Warning Description: Winter Storm Warning

Warning Date: 12:28 PM EDT on October 29, 2011

WarningSum:...Winter Storm Warning Remains In Effect From 8 Pm This Evening
To 2 Pm Edt Sunday...

Warning Message:* locations...coastal Maine except York County. This warning 
  includes the city of Portland. This warning also includes 
  coastal Rockingham County. 
* Hazard types...heavy wet snow.
* Accumulations...6 to 10 inches of snow.
* Timing...rain or a rain snow mix will begin to overspread
  coastal New Hampshire and coastal Maine south of Penobscot Bay
  mid to late afternoon. The rain will change to heavy wet snow as
  the evening progresses. The heaviest snowfall is expected to
  fall during late this evening until around sunrise Sunday. The
  snow will diminish in intensity and end from south to north
  during the course of Sunday morning.
* Impacts...tree damage and power outages from heavy wet snow and
  wind. Roads will become snow covered and slippery overnight.
* Winds...north 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. The
  strongest winds will be along the immediate coast.
* Temperatures...low to mid 30s.
* Visibilities...one quarter mile or less at times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring.  Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight...
food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

WarningSum:...High Wind Warning Remains In Effect From Midnight Tonight To
Noon Edt Sunday...

Warning Message:* winds...north 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
* Timing...northerly winds will increase this evening and become
  strongest between midnight and 10 am. The strongest winds will
  occur along the immediate coast. They will begin to subside
  around midday Sunday.
* Impacts...strong wind gusts combined with heavy wet snow will 
  lead to downed trees and power lines in the warning area... 
  especially right along the immediate coast. 
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous wind event is expected or
occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of
58 mph or more can lead to downed trees...power outages...and
structural damage.
